Animoca Brands collaborates with Soneium to develop Anime ID, a new DID and reputation layer. Anime ID will be spearheaded by Anime Foundation contributor San FranTokyo.
According to a press release shared with crypto.news, Anime ID will be the first DID to adopt Account, Identity, and Reputation SDK technology on the Soneium blockchain. Users will be able to create embedded accounts, develop unique identities, and manage credentials while navigating various decentralized applications in the Soneium ecosystem.
Moca Network, Animoca Brands’ digital identity infrastructure platform, will power Anime ID by deploying its AIR SDK into the Soneium blockchain.
As part of the collaboration, San FranTokyo will also launch anime-inspired campaigns on Soneium, aimed at bringing more anime fans to the web3 space and introduce new anime themed experiences.
San FranTokyo is a community-owned cultural protocol created to foster an open ecosystem that supports global anime and manga culture. It is a launch partner of the Anime Foundation.
According to the official Anime ID website, the initiative represents the “future of fandom, loyalty, status & rep in anime culture like never before.” Users can contribute to anime culture, earn recognition, and unlock benefits within the Anime Foundation community.
Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs of Soneium, Jun Watanabe stated the anime fan community holds a lot of market potential for the blockchain, as it is one of the largest entertainment industries today.
“By integrating Moca Network’s AIR SDK and Anime ID into Soneium and Animoca Brands launching anime-inspired cultural campaigns, we aim to onboard global anime fans to the blockchain, enabling them to collaborate, create, and infuse the world with emotion,” said Watanabe.
Co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu, says the partnership with Soneium serves as a significant step towards expanding web3 adoption in the near future.
“We’re not just enhancing entertainment experiences; we’re creating a seamless digital ecosystem. The partnership will empower Soneium users with unified digital identities, bridging anime, gaming, and blockchain technologies,” said Siu.
This is not Soneium’s first anime-centered collaboration Most recently, Soneium teamed up with YOAKE and OpenSEA to launch an NFT collection depicting an iconic scene from the anime movie “The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light,” which is currently available to watch on Netflix.
